Examining the Complexity between Boredom and Engagement in English Learning: Evidence from Chinese High School Students

چکیده

Although boredom is a negative emotion that students frequently experience in the process of learning English, language has received scant research attention terms its structure, levels and impact on engagement. To fill this gap, study focused data obtained from 1157 high school six different areas mainland China via questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis revealed binary structure English (ELB) tri-structure engagement (ELE). The Pearson correlation showed low-to-moderate between ELB ELE. On basis our results, we present study’s pedagogical implications.
